I am having some issues with my new quickshift too, the newer version with lift collar reverse.
First off before fitting the unit is very stiff to move, holding the blue base in one hand and moving the stick in the other I can move the stick but its very very tight, so tight that when test fitting the stick does not move left and right but the whole gear change mechanism under the car moves on its rubber mounts instead. Is it possible to turn the knurled silver collar at the base to losen the pressure on the ball joint? I did try but it was very tight so I thought I'd best leave it till I asked.
Secondly, ignoring the stiffness I attempted to fit it. I cannot get the M5 bolts to line up with the holes left from the old pins, the base is sitting to high and I cannot push it down further to line up.
Any help much appreciated, Simon |

Hi Simon,
The quickshift will be tight to begin with as the plastic part just under the knurled silver collar has to 'bed in.' It is possible to unscrew the cap a little, but it has thread locker on it, so it will be very difficult to do without damaging the knurling- you will also need to put thread locker on the thread once you have done this.
When your putting the quickshift onto the housing you need to make sure that the bottom balls is locating into the yoke inside the gearchange housing properly- this is often what is responsible for the gear lever not fitting all the way home.
Furthermore, it might be worth just having a look under the bell once you have tried to push it on- there may be a bit of the gear change housing preventing the quickshift sitting all the way on- but this should show up as a mark in the anodising. This is quite unlikely, but then the housing was not originally made to a specific tolerance, so there maybe be an issue there.
If your still having issues with it, just give me a call (01303 874 082) or email (as below) and we will sort something out for you.

Hi!
I am new around here and am posting from France. I am an happy owner from a KAD quickshift for more than 12 years. The item seems to be imossible to worn out...
I am interested with the new one but do not want to leave my old Cooper gearknob.
So my question is : is it possible to switch the KAD gearknow for another?
I thank you for your answer !
I wish you an happy new year !!

Hi JM Lamour,
Welcome to the KAD Forum.
Unfortunately your Cooper knob won't fit on our new quickshift. There is a possibility of modifying it if there is enough material in the knob to alloy you to do so, but there is a chance you will just wreck the knob attempting to do so.
Sorry if its not the answer you were hoping, but I hope that answers your question.
